What have our consultants been up to during the Covid-19 pandemic?

With private hospitals closed to all but emergency, life-saving procedures and helping to lighten the burden on the NHS, you might be wondering what our consultants from the London Lupus Centre have been up to.

Well, the answer is that they have been very busy! They have been working hard in their NHS trusts, stepping outside of their specialised fields on 'hot' COVID wards, as physicians helping patients on their road to recovery from this vicious virus.

Prof Chris Edwards (pictured below) has spent a month on ‘hot’ COVID wards at University Hospital Southampton and is now working with the team there on COVID trials including vaccine studies. He has also been part of the team working hard to get phones and tablets available for patients to be able to stay in touch with relatives during difficult times, when visiting inpatients in the hospitals is prohibited.

Dr Arvind Kaul has been helping on the busy COVID wards at St George's Hospital in Tooting in South West London whilst Prof David D'Cruz had been delivering care to patients suffering from COVID-19 at the very full St Thomas' Hospital in Central London.

It was lovely to see the new Banksy installation at Southampton Hospital this week as well - thank you to everyone who is working so hard to beat this virus.
