SANDS (Stillbirth and neonatal death charity) Awareness Month 2019

Lupus, as you will likely know, is a rare autoimmune disease that mainly affects women, in which the body's own immune system attacks healthy cells. It is complicated process and it is still not well understood. Tragically, women who suffer from Lupus have a 1 in 5 chance of losing their baby through miscarriage or stillbirth. Due to the complexity of the symptoms and the rarity of the

condition, many women with Lupus take a long time to be diagnosed, so they may suffer losing their baby without knowing they have the disease.

This June is SANDS (Stillbirth and neonatal death charity) awareness month to raise awareness of the facts and impacts relating to neonatal deaths and stillbirths. We would like to help raise awareness of this wonderful charity, the work it does for women and all the volunteers and helpers they have.

We hope that as Lupus becomes more well known, we can help to reduce the number of women who suffer this terrible, terrible loss. Our hearts really do go out to all of you.
